Next week’s guest is…
Claire Gleave is entrepreneur mum to 3 boys, and Founder and CEO of maternity sportswear brand, @natalactive. Believe me, you don’t want to miss this one.
(also, use NEWLEAF at check out if you want 15% off her amazing gear. Yes!)
More info and teasers on this, this week.
But I still want to listen to something!
Try Jessica Hatcher-Moore from Season 2 if you want something really thought-provoking.
Jess used to be a journalist in Subsaharan Africa, and experienced serious conflict in War Zones where she reported on really tricky topics such as sexual violence, which got her featured in Time Magazine. Her instagram is amazing too.
She also happens to be the Author of my favourite, favourite postnatal book out there, After Birth. Recommendrecommendrecommend.
In a Nutshell, we discuss radical change to the birth space, when home birth goes wrong, and her old life as a journalist in Africa (it’s amazing).
Episodes are for everyone… but who would LOVE this episode —>

Tantrum of the week
B’s been really good this week (!!!!!!) so I asked some of my followers to contribute. Here were the best ones:
“When we went to get the flu vaccine - I had the injection and he had a nasal spray. He wanted the injection.”
“I couldn’t transfer the crab that was in Moana, into Frozen.”
“The salted crisps were too salty.”
“Told our 3 year old that she’d learn how to read at school. She got really upset because she “already knows how to read" (note: memorises books and then pretends she is reading)”
Quote of the week
Motherhood: because going to the loo by yourself is overrated
Tip of the week
Don’t want to rely on screens/disco fruit to get through a coffee/lunch?
Take a ‘secret toy’.
Allow them to choose their own toy before you go, and when they get bored, crack out the secret toy. Will buy you at least another 15 minutes.
(Hint: Duplo do really good small vehicles/people around lots of themes in cute HappyMeal type boxes which tabies/toddlers love, and are really inexpensive and easy to shove in your nappy/diaper bag. They like the box, the fact that it moves, and the subject matter as well e.g. unicorns, tractors, bin men etc… )
Product of the week
So yes, Claire Gleave is my guest next week, and yes she happens to manufacture these - however there is no sponsoring around this product - this is my genuine opinion and reflects my own experience of postnatal exercise.
Tbh part of the reason why I asked her to come on?! Just massive fangirling?
The @natalactive sports bra is an absolute… game changer. It was THE comfiest nursing bra, which I routinely wore with the #mumuniform of leggings + large jumper that everyone lives in for the first 6 months or so post-baby.
If you’re just starting back into exercise and are breastfeeding, other than being a very functional sports bra that supports your ladies very well, it also had built-in, super absorbent padding - whereas none of my other nursing bras did.
It meant that any leaking etc was easily absorbed and then washable, rather than fannying about with reusable breast pads / the disposable ones that get all scrunched up and useless within 5 seconds when you only have a 30 min window to do a class/go for a run.
It also just looks really nice (and btw has matching leggings that have POCKETS).
Don’t forget: NEWLEAF at checkout to get 15% off, but NO it is not sponsored, I just genuinely love them!!!
Instamum of the week
@ourmamavillage Jess VanderWier is a really amazing woman. She’s a therapist for parents by trade but more generally does extremely genuine and helpful stories, as well as a lot of great polls about parenting opinions…
I like Jess because she is completely herself, has a very modern approach to parenting -all while acknowledging that sometimes it is just f*cking hard!
She has excellent tips on … kinda everything, but the ones I remember most are:
how to teach about consent / private parts from a very young age
how to normalise apologising to our kids
how to handle santa/tooth fairy!
how to ‘re-parent’ (if you have issues with the way you were raised that you don’t want to pass on)
Appreciate these emails / like the podcast?
I make precisely £0 from these, and the podcast, but some day would love this to change…
The only way I can keep doing this is is to grow my following and get the word out there about what I do. So sharing helps!
See you next week!
