Claire Gleave, Entrepreneur & Founder of Natal Active is live!
Claire Gleave from @natalactive’s episode 3 of Series 3 is now live.
An avid marathon runner, Claire had 3 babies in 4 years, and got completely fed up of the husbandstshirt cycle that we all get into when trying to restart exercising pre- and post-natally.
She created Natal Active in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, after being ghosted by the company she was applying to (yep, cheers) when trying to get back to work.
Claire is now bossing it as the ultimate mum entrepreneur.
In a Nutshell, we discuss uterine prolapse, maternal discrimination in the job market, postnatal physio, and birth recovery.
Episodes are for everyone… but - who would LOVE this episode —>
Mums who have experienced prolapse after birth
Mums who have felt discriminated against in the job market
Mums who have a business idea
Mega useful resource of the week…
If you suffered from a severe injury during childbirth, or know someone who has, I thoroughly recommend you check out the MASIC Foundation. It is a charity run by women who’ve experienced severe injury themselves, and supports awareness, research and prevention of major injuries at birth.
They have fantastic downloadable packs that decode a lot of the medical jargon around childbirth injuries, and also have a vast amount of resources for getting help.
Don’t suffer in silence, make sure you are heard:
Quote of the week…
Nothing is really lost until Mum can’t find it.
Tip of the week…
Get rid of Cradle Cap, without needing a fancy kit or fancy shampoo
Get bubz in the bath in a decent bath seat if you haven’t already got one so they’re relaxed (tip within a tip, blow some bubbles if your baby doesn’t like the bath and they’ll stop crying)
Use the tips of your fingers to rub coconut oil / baby oil into the scalp
Use a soft brush in circles all over bubz head, and then take your time to very gently use a lice/nit comb front to back across your baby’s scalp, lifting the flakes as you go
Use an unscented baby shampoo to remove the oil, using the soft brush in circles again to get a proper lather
Comb through a gentle conditioner, front to back of the scalp, and rinse
Towel dry, and then blow dry bubz’s hair on a low heat using your hand to gauge the temperature. Use the comb again to lift any flakes away.
Repeat, until all the flakes are gone. This works.
Product of the week…
Since we are on bath time, I do really recommend the Cuddle Dry towel especially if you’re a first time mum / are struggling to buy a present for a baby shower.
I got one at one of those baby fairs where they sell ALL the gadgets and tbh this was one of the ones that was totally worth it.
It’s a regular towel, but goes around your neck with velcro, so that you don’t have that horrendous-I-may-drop-my-baby moment where you’re wrestling a crying slippery very cold child with a towel wedged under your chin.
Soooo simple but really, really useful.
They aren’t the cheapest (£39.99!), however… I’ve used it every day for nearly 3 years, so I’d say well worth it if you can stretch.
Instamum of the week…
@_maverickmotherhood Wilma is my instamum of the week this week.
She’s a nutritional therapist with none of the diety b*llocks you get target advertised with as soon as you have a baby, and in my view has genuinely great tips on fuelling / properly nourishing your body including treats, alcohol and the rest in a realistic and non diet-culture kinda way, if this makes sense...
I had a horrible relationship with food as a teenager and beyond, and it took me years to sort it out. If this is you, she gets it. She is uplifting and funny too, so win win!
(She’s also based in Scotland like me, which is pretty cool)
Enjoy this?
If you think these are handy and you like what I do, I completely and 100% rely on you guys to help me grow, keep me recording the podcast, and keep supporting new mums. I make £0 from what I do right now!
So sharing helps!
See you next week …
